NIR YEHUDAI

(KLINISCH SOCIAAL WERKER EN THERAPEUT)

Nir Yehudai (Klinisch sociaal werker & therapeut)

Hi, my name is Nir. As a clinical social worker and therapist, I was trained to treat individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, addictions and psychotic illnesses. I have worked in various mental health settings such as psychiatric hospitals, out-patient clinics and residential treatment facilities, before focusing on private practice. Having lived in diverse communities in the US and the EU, I enjoy working with people from all over the world. I welcome young adults and adults of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds. Among the most common issues that I treat are depression, social and general anxiety, eating disorders, addictions of various kinds, difficulties in forming social and romantic relationships, work related stress and burnout, existential angst, the challenges of parenthood and coping with crisis, life transitions and loss.

I hold bachelor's degrees in history, political science and psychology, a masters degree in social work (MSW) and a PhD. in history. I also completed post-MSW training in treating eating disorders and in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

My social work background has taught me to observe the individual person as a whole by taking into account social, economic and cultural factors - forces into which we are all born that are outside our control. I therefore find it appropriate and effective, at times, to take a pragmatic, solution-focused approach and incorporate CBT and DBT modalities for the purpose of improving one's life in a quick, concrete way.

Usually, however, my work is mostly influenced by traditional and contemporary psychoanalytic theory - Freudian, object relations, relational, self-psychology and Lacanian - all of which aim in their own way to make the unconscious conscious. However, since imposing a general theory on a real flesh-and-blood person in dogmatic fashion is never helpful, one guiding principle that I uphold is to avoid doing that.

Furthermore, I am not here to tell you what to do or what to think. I will be here to listen to you and to help you listen to yourself. The more that you allow me to know you, the better I would be able to, with time, make some comments that could be helpful for you in changing that which you wish to change. And therapy is all about change.

I offer therapy in English and Hebrew. Feel free to read more at https://www.niryehudai.com/
